Website assessment

You have recently started your own business selling a product of your choosing. Sales are slow at the weekend markets around town and the stand out the front of your house isn't doing too well either. You decide that it's about time to make a website to help you sell your product.

Your task:

Using the skills that you have learnt over the past two weeks, create a website that advertises your products for sale. Your product can be whatever you like, it can be something real, something that you could make yourself, or something completely fictional. Example ideas:
  • shoes/clothing
  • old video games
  • puppies
  • Pokemon cards
  • v-bucks gift cards
  • assorted flavours of muffins
  • pot plants
  • houses
  • cars

As long as the content is appropriate you can choose whatever you like, you will be marked on the quality of your website and not on the actual thing that you are trying to sell.

File management

  • Think of the folder as your website which contains all the pages, images, etc - any document that is part of your website must be saved in the folder.
  • Name the folder with your name and the title of the website. For example: duncan_tyler_halo

Testing and Refinement

In order to get an achieved grade you must complete the following tests on your website:
- Check that every link is correctly taking you to another webpage
- Check that your spelling is correct. (This can be done by loading the content into Microsoft Word, then get a peer to read your website out loud to check for errors.)
- Perform the following grammar checks:

I have:
Included capital letters at the start of every sentence.
Included capital letters for names of people or places.
Removed random capital letters from my writing.
Ended all sentences with a full stop.
Sentences are using the correct tense such as has (present), had(past) or will have (future).
Not used contractions in my writing e.g. "do not feed the sheep" is more professional then "don't feed the sheep"
